Q: Main course bacon recipes other than breakfast, pasta carboni, pizza, quiche or soups?
Bacon is frequently on sale & can be frozen.
A: Bacon is the universal meat, it goes with nearly everything! Bacon wrapped beef or seafood or poultry all work and the limit is only your imagination.
One real easy and tasty one is to lay out chicken thighs in a baking dish (dark meat works better then white because of the longer cooking time), smother it with a mix of bold bbq sauce, honey, s & p, and top it with a layer of bacon, and cook it until it's done. If you prefer white meat, half cook the bacon first.
Or make a marinade of 1/2 cup pineapple juce, 1/4 cup lime juice, oregano, minced garlic, and some veg. oil and marinate pieces of plantain, pineapple, chicken, and bacon. Then place the ingredients on soaked skewers and grill.
For a dipping and glazing sauce use 1 cup brown sugar, 4 tbsp soy sauce, 4 tbsp ketchup, 1 tsp ground mustard, 1 can crushed pineapple with juice, and 2 tbsp of cornstarch. Combine the ingredients and simmer untill thickened, just a few minutes. Scrumptious and sweet!
Q: Peameal bacon recipes... casserole?
Does anyone out there have a recipe (preferably a slow cooker recipe, but not necessary) where I can use peameal bacon? I LOVE peameal bacon, and want to make a casserole type dish with it in my slow cooker, something maybe with pasta, the peameal bacon, spaghetti sauce type of idea?
Also, any other easy slow cooker recipes would be appreciated- ones with meat (my hubby wont eat anything without meat!)
THANKS!!
A: Brown 2 pounds of beef stew meat - a few pieces at a time
The browning is what gives the final product flavor and too many pieces will steam and not brown the meat and thus it will be gray
Q: Any appetizers that use a package of turkey bacon (or bacon recipes where turkey bacon would be an ok sub?)?
I bought a package of turkey bacon and I need to use it asap. I'm not going to eat a whole package myself in a day or two, so I decided I want to use it in an appetizer or dip of sorts to bring to a party I'm going to tommorrow (I'm not sure how cinco de mayo-ish turkey bacon is, but whatever, I'm not trying to be theme-y or anything). Help me use my turkey bacon!! Also, please no recipes that require beef or pork or any meat other than poultry, ideally, the bacon would be the only meat in the dish :) Thanks!
These sound good, I was really hopeing for a dip of sorts and/or something that can defintiely be served COLD...I have to drive an hour away and it's easier to keep stuff cold than hot...you all may be over estimating my cooking ability, why do you think the bacon has just been sitting there waiting to be eaten? Is there such thing as a BLT dip?
A: honey you can use turkey bacon in any recipe to replace bacon, but here are a couple of ideas

Q: Old Bacon Recipes?
I have some old bacon - well it's about 2 weeks old, still smells ok but it doesn't fry up quite right. Should I throw it away or does someone have a recipe for using it up?
A: As bacon is cured and smoked (at least the American variety is), unless it's been out on the table for two weeks, it's probably fine.
Your nose will tell you.
For a GREAT use, that is so delish and easy, try this:
CARBONARA!!!
1/4 lb. bacon
1 stick (1/4 lb.) butter
1 c. milk
2 tbsp. wine vinegar
1 lb. pasta (fettuccine or linguine)
2 eggs, whipped
1/2 c. fresh Parmesan
Cut the bacon into little pieces and cook in butter until clear. Heat milk in a small saucepan, and add the bacon and butter, add the vinegar; this will turn the milk to cheese. Simmer for about 15 minutes, or until the sauce cooks smooth.
Boil the pasta al dente. Drain and return to pan. Immediately throw in the eggs, the bacon sauce and cheese. Toss and serve. Add salt and pepper to taste.
Unbelievably delicious!
Best wishes!

Well, my boyfriend bought Canadian Bacon and Lil Smokies to make Stromboli, but the dough went bad before we got a chance. Any good recipes or ideas besides your simple pizza, flat bread, stromboli, calzones, etc? I was thinking about baking them with brown sugar, but that's so boring. Ideas?
A: Canadian bacon, litely fried or grilled make a good sandwich with melted cheese. Lil smokies heated in a cranberry sauce or grape jelly.
Q: dinner recipes with bacon?
I have some bacon but don't really like it for breakfast. I'd like to make a dinner dish with it but I don't know what. Any ideas?? recipes please!
A: BLT
Pasta Carbonara
Broccoli salad (raw broc, cooked crumbled bacon, sunflower seeds, and a dressing of Miracle Whip, sugar, and vinegar)
German potato salad
Q: Bacon and Egg Pie Recipes please (single serve)?
I have a single serve pie maker and wish to make Bacon and Egg pies, but the only recipes I can find are ones for large pies, not small ones like the ones I want to make. I want a simple recipie and am using Puff Pastry, please help :)
Also do I wisk the eggs? I have seen some recipes where you do, others where you dont??? And do I layer bacon at bottom of pie, throughout or at top?
Thank you!
A: Sounds good sweetie! Of course it will depend on the exact size of your pie maker (and what size eggs you plan to use) but if it is single serve try one jumbo egg or 2 small. Whisk with a few drops of milk. You can try the bacon anyway you want - it won't hurt anything. Don't overcook - try inserting a knife and if it comes out clean your good.
Have fun and enjoy!
Q: Does anyone have any easy Chicken and Bacon dinner recipes?
I'm looking to make dinner tonight and here is a list of food I have:
Boneless Chicken
Potatoes (whole and mashed)
Bacon
Cheese
Anyone have any idea on what I could make?
A: Spice up your chicken any way you like--assuming it's raw--and pop it in the oven (at 375), covered, until it's cooked through. If it has the skin, rub a little butter on before cooking and uncover for the last 20 minutes of cooking to crisp it up.
As for the potatoes, take your mashed potatoes and mix 1/2 your cheese and cooked bacon into them--and sour cream if you have it (if not, add a little extra milk and butter)--and spread this in a baking dish. Top with remaining cheese and bacon and bake along with chicken for about 10-15 minutes. (watch to make sure cheese doesn't burn)
Voila.
Q: What are some creative recipes using Bacon?
I usually just eat it by the plateful. . . . .
A: Here are a few, just wrapping. They are all good! Enjoy!!!
Bacon wrapped water chestnuts
INGREDIENTS
1 pound bacon
2 (8 ounce) cans water chestnuts
1/3 cup packed brown sugar
1/3 cup mayonnaise
1/3 cup chili sauce
DIRECTIONS
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
Cut each strip of bacon in half. Wrap one strip around one water chestnut. Secure with a wooden toothpick. Place in shallow baking dish.
Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 20 minutes.
While the wraps are baking, in a small mixing bowl combine brown sugar, mayonnaise, and chili sauce to make barbecue sauce. After the wraps have finished baking, transfer them (removing them from the grease) to a second shallow baking dish. Pour the sauce over the wraps.
Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 10 to 15 additional minutes, or until bacon is crispy. Serve hot out of dish with toothpicks.
Bacon wrapped shrimp
INGREDIENTS
16 large shrimp, peeled and deveined
8 slices bacon
barbeque seasoning, to taste
DIRECTIONS
Preheat oven to 450 degrees F (230 degrees C).
Wrap shrimp with 1/2 slice of bacon, securing with a toothpick. Be sure and use the large shrimp--the cooking time for the shrimp and the bacon is similar. If you use medium-sized shrimp, you might want to precook the bacon a little--over cooked shrimp are tough and rubbery--and a real shame.
Line a jelly roll pan with extra heavy duty foil, and place baking rack in pan. Place the shrimp on the rack, and sprinkle heavily with the barbecue seasoning, turn and sprinkle second side. Let the shrimp sit for 15 minutes. The bacon will turn from creamy white to a little opaque, and the seasonings will soak in.
Cook the bacon for 10 to 15 minutes. The rack keeps the shrimp from sitting in the draining bacon fat. With a little luck, you won't tear the foil -- you can throw that away and only have to scrub the rack.
Bacon wrapped jalapeno
INGREDIENTS
6 fresh jalapeno peppers, halved lengthwise and seeded
1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese
12 slices bacon
DIRECTIONS
Preheat an outdoor grill for high heat.
Spread cream cheese to fill jalapeno halves. Wrap with bacon. Secure with a toothpick.
Place on the grill, and cook until bacon is crispy.
Pineapple wrapped with bacon
INGREDIENTS
2 (16 ounce) cans pineapple chunks, drained
1 (10 ounce) jar sweet-and-sour sauce
2 pounds bacon
1 box toothpicks
DIRECTIONS
Place the pineapple in a large bowl, and toss with sweet and sour sauce. Cover, and marinate overnight in the refrigerator.
To prevent burning, place toothpicks in a small bowl of water and soak 10 minutes.
Place a paper towel over a microwave-safe dish and arrange part of the bacon on the towel; cover with another paper towel. Cook the bacon in a microwave oven on medium just until partially cooked and still pliable, 2 to 3 minutes. Repeat with remaining bacon. Cut bacon strips in half.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Lightly grease a baking sheet and set aside.
Wrap half a bacon strip around each pineapple chunk. Secure bacon with a toothpick, and place on baking sheet. Repeat with remaining bacon and pineapple chunks.
Bake in preheated oven until bacon is crisp, 20 to 30 minutes. Cool 5 minutes before serving.
Q: Recipes for bacon wrapped fillets?
I am completely sick and tired of the same ol meals. I have a family full of picky eaters and a man that only eats beef and some pork. So I bought these steaks for the first time. I am looking for new ideas for preparing them.
A: Bacon Wrapped Fillet Mignon with Roquefort Sauce
Serves 2
Recipe Ingredients:
2 6 oz. Fillet Mignon Steaks
8 slices Farmer John® Bacon (or 4 thick slices)
1 clove Garlic Crushed
1/2 cup Rice Wine Vinegar
1/2 cup Orange Juice
1/2 cup Heavy Cream
2 oz. Roquefort Cheese
1/4 cup chopped fresh Basil (cut in 1/2" squares)
1 tsp. Tarragon
Generous Pinch of Salt and Pepper
1 tsp. Cornstarch (optional)
1: Mix rice vinegar, orange juice and crushed garlic in bowl. Add fillets to bowl. Cover bowl with plastic wrap and place bowl in refrigerator at least 2 hours.
2: While marinating steaks, allow 30 minutes before the end of marinade time. Cook bacon in skillet until half done. Take out and place on paper towels and pat with second paper towel.
3: In a saucepan, mix heavy cream, Roquefort cheese, tarragon, salt, pepper and 1 tsp. of corn starch, if needed. Bring to slow simmer, stirring occasionally. When cheese is melted, sample sauce and adjust cheese to your taste.
4: Time the grill so coals will be ready when steaks are ready to go on grill.
5: Wrap either 2 slices thick, or 4 slices regular, Farmer John Bacon around each steak. Secure with toothpicks. Place steaks on grill and cook to charred rare, but not more than medium rare. DO NOT OVERCOOK.
6: Place steaks with bacon-wrap near center of plate.
7: While sauce is at very slow simmer, add basil before removing from heat and stir.
8: Place 1 tsp. sauce in center of each steak. Garnish plates with sauce in conservative design. Place remaining sauce in custard cup and place on table. Enjoy yourself!
